Hotline to Vienna and a Sudden Realization
Onur lives in Vienna, I live in Istanbul. On weekends, when I'm not buried in assignments and studies, I go home to see my family (oh yes, I started university some time ago, but that's for another post). My friend Onur and I use these occasions to spend the nights together playing online. It's like my one window to Vienna that I visit regularly.
We always play the same shooter-game. The fast-paced, adrenaline-boosting and quick-reaction-demanding gameplay often leave your heart imploding. I never liked rollercoasters, and I'm glad I don't have to try them because this replaces them just fine.
Plus, it gives me a chance to talk to my friend and have some fun. It's been almost over 5 years since we met and I could never have imagined back then, that I'd be sitting here in Istanbul talking to him over game chat.
Heck, the fact that I'm 1. returning home over the weekend from 2. university in 3. Istanbul would never have crossed my mind back then. At one point I even thought I'd never graduate from high school, yet look at me now.
And then somebody comes and asks you where you want to be in 5 years? The hell should I now?? 5 years from now I could be in a totally different country doing something my current self would never even be able to imagine myself doing. Ask me where I'll be in 5 days. Now that I can answer!
But 5 years? Who knows...
